*I clearly had to learn the hard way!*
I was at Penang International Airport on Sunday with about 2 hours to kill before boarding my flight back to KLIA2. Just after an event, hardly ate and wanted a hot quick meal, cause freshly prepared meals is always a better option.
Walked around and skipped all the fast food and saw a newly opened two days old Nasi Kandar restaurant and thought awesome I can order a hot plate of fried rice or noodles. Got to the counter, ordered my vege fried noodles and sat down.
I always observe my surroundings and was drawn to the sound of metal fork and spoon hitting each other as a worker was busy wiping them after washing, before placing them into the container for customers to pick them up for use.
And guess what I saw? He kept dropping them on the floor and only wiped them with the same towel he was using before placing them with the other washed and cleaned ones! It’s an airport and I can’t image the kind of germs there could be on the floor! This clearly shows that their staff (all foreigners) did not receive any food handling training.
This sharing is to educate each one of you to carry your own reusable fork, spoon and straw when you dine out! It’s not that difficult just put a wet wipes and tissue in your bag to clean them in case water source is not available and you can properly wash them when you back home! 💖
