How many of us remember hating what we saw throughout our childhood and wish it was different? Have we today gone to do something about it? These guys - Sathiyavarmaan and JK Wicky along with their family and friends, truly did live up to the quote by Mahatma Gandhi to be the change we wish to see in this world.
The team brought together a group of over 700 volunteers, to walk the talk in a campaign to keep the surroundings of the place of worship and popular tourist destination - Batu Caves temple as well as Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar temple in Ipoh and the Arulmigu Sri Bala Thandayuthapani Kovil in Penang, as well as the Sri Subramaniya Swami Devasthanam in Sungai Petani, Kedah clean during Thaipusam. The team from all around Malaysia, made a difference this Thaipusam in at least 4 different states! Hats off guys!

The campaign led by Sathiyavarmaan and JK Wicky, a film maker, saw the project this year being carefully planned by a core team of 100 committee members, as the number of volunteers have increased, proving that our people do want a clean environment in our country.
Volunteers from near and far attending a briefing before the clean up activity. True warriors who have stepped up despite the current global epidemic.

According to Wicky, his childhood experience of seeing rubbish thrown everywhere during Thaipusam in Batu Caves was what inspired the initiative a year ago.
The 'Clean Thaipusam' campaign is powered by Digi and the organisers will also be giving away 500 plants for free.
