Malaysian Indian Fashion Festival (MIFF) ambassador Pushpa Narayan Robless shares that she is open to taking up acting offers but has her heart for fashion

“Maybe next year, I’ll have my own label, you never know,” said
the energetic model and actress when meet after the recent MIFF press
conference at Park Royal Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
She had already tested the waters by venturing into online
fashion business in 2007.
“But I realize other people were also offering what I sold, my
upcoming project will not be anything like that, I don’t want to sell what
other’s can,” she said adding that her designing urge was surely passed down by
her mother who used to stitch and still has her sewing machine.

The mother of two, aged 3 and 5, Pushpa said part of her work was
often done after putting her kids to sleep.
“I always try my best not to use the phone when I’m with them,
not only because I want to spend quality time but I do not wan the two of them
to be curious and ask to play with gadgets I use,” she added.
She also stressed that it was of course sad to have to leave
them behind as she multitask and makes time for passion.
“My younger one would ask me, Mummy you’re going to work again?”
Pushpa also shared that she will be shooting her art for the
movie Ayudhaam in December.
Pushpa from
Jerantut, Pahang gained popularity in the local scene through her roles in
several TV shows and movies. She is joins the list of versatile local actresses
who is well known among both the Malay and Tamil local audiences.
She entered the entertainment industry
following a successful modeling career after winning second place in the 2004 Dewi
Remaja Model Search. She then joined Miss Malaysia Universe 2004 and
was the First Runner-up and also won the Miss Love & Lace Photogenic and
Miss Health and Beauty titles.
“In fact, I started modeling for the love of carrying
a fashion piece on stage,” she said.
On MIFF 2016, she said it was an idea from two months ago by
Kish Vin, MIFF CEO and founder, who approached her to be part of the first of a
kind fashion event.
“It’s amazing to see designers coming from far and near to join
MIFF,” she added.
She also pointed out that the Malaysian fashion industry now has
more Indian fashion designers compared to a few years ago.
When asked if she has a favourite local Indian designer, Pushpa
pointed out that she was wearing an evening gown by Amitaruci A Creation By Tanesha Vinod.
“I am also a fan of two other male designer’s style, Hariharan
Arasu (Ardana Haran) and Krishan Bahadur Darji (Bahadur Couture),” she added.
