EMP Fashion Walk

Indian Based Style and Glamour in Malaysia

In an evening of extravaganza, the EMP Fashion Walk 2016, brought together Indian fashion designers from both the local and international scene in perfect style.

Held at Black Box, Publika on April 30, the first of its kind fashion show saw emerging and upcoming talented Indian designers showcasing their creations on a unique platform.

The EMP Fashion Walk 2016 had also designed a beautiful occasion for local senior models as well as Caucasian and upcoming models in the industry to walk into a ramp of opportunities.

The show started with a Gen Next Designer show, followed by a showcase by Accessory designer, Guest designer and emerging designers.

Audience to the show, who were invited and a handful who managed to get hold of the limited hot selling tickets, were entertained to a number of performances put together to spice up the event.

My first time at an Indian designer fashion show and I had my eyes glued to the runway throughout the evening! I however, think a fashion show should mean designers are ready to show me their hard work, from scratch and not let models walk with cotton sarees I could buy from Brickfields, Klang or online. Also, if it was about reselling a fashion from India, I could have also been part of the EMP Fashion Walk!

One of the designers who sew my heart to their pieces was Tanesha Vinod with the 'Colours of India' design by Amitaruci Fashion!

There was nothing to iron out with her collection. She carried off her theme with utmost perfection.

I've known this gorgeous designer for some time now. I remember writing a feature on her made to order sarees for Depavali for The New Straits Times, when her little bubba, Doniv was still kicking in her tummy. It was such a proud moment to see him share the limelight with her that evening.

With a detailed eye, for intricate designs that speak the latest trends, she's the one you should contact for custom made indian outfits, be it a lengha for your wedding dinner, a saree for a special function matched with grand mirror work blouses or skirts to match your crop top. Not to forget, indian fashion with a twist, her printed kurtas and blazers are to die for!

Meanwhile, at the show, this one stole my heart...

Another designer who I'll love to give a shoutout to, is Hariharan Arasu for an amazing collection 'Padma' by Ardana Haran

Here's my top 3 picks...I love all of it though! I know I can make heads turn while being comfortable in my own skin any day, with this wonderful designs! They can go from work to ready for dinner/party/function!

Hats off for making this event happen. I unfortunately did not stay till the end. It got a little tiring during the second half of the show, following the one hour late start, a longer break and too many technical glitches. One advice for future organisers is to always have a good rehearsal and don't mirror your monitor on the screen. It was sad that such a big event had this little issues that could have been avoided. Never overlook little things, they are the big things! Another tip, if a promo video doesn't work for one designer, just skip it for the others! Nevertheless, a good show and I will love to come for your next one.

About two weeks later, Amitaruci Fashion by Tanesha Vinod made me go mad with her trendy collection at the Kuala Lumpur Indie Fashion Week!

This time, I couldn't pick a favorite. They were all outstanding! My wardrobe was screaming for the privilege to have them all! Looks like I'll be coming over to your boutique at 13-1A(1st Floor) Jalan Raja Laut (opposite Federal theater Jalan Ipoh )Kuala Lumpur soon!

These designs are good as office wear, crop tops that will give you the edge paired with a high waist pencil skirt and great for parties, dinners after work or to make an appearance in the most perfect style!
