Students now have to apply for the KADS1M (Kad Diskaun Siswa 1Malaysia) Debit card
to get their BB1M RM250 allocation.
Yes, instead of the vouchers, the
amount will be debited directly into a Bank Rakyat account and students will receive a card known as KADS1M (Kad Diskaun
Siswa 1Malaysia).
So wait no more and open an i-Saving account with Bank
Rakyat before 31 March 2017. It can be done easily by submitting an online application.
The card can then be collected at the branch you select after filling
up the very simple form at http://www.bankrakyat.com.my/bppt/
Take note that the online application closes 31 March 2017
Remember to check your email regularly as you will receive an
email from Bank Rakyat to inform you of when the card is ready for collection.
In addition to the RM250 assistance, students will also get discounts when using the
KADS1M just like a debit card, to buy selected goods and services, subject to
the conditions set by the participating companies and merchants.
The KADS1M is given out for FREE
for the first year to
eligible students. However, according to Bank Rakyat, students will need
to pay an annual fee of RM5 for the subsequent years. This card has to be renewed every three
years.
To receive
this assistance, you'd have to fulfill the following criteria:
- · Malaysian
- · An active student studying at a public or private institution as of 31 December 2016
- · Studying full-time or part-time
- · Not a BR1M (Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia) recipient
- · Be in Malaysia during the implementation of KADS1M Debit card programme
