Saree love...simple is stunning
My love for sarees grew after meeting my husband who bought me one for Christmas the year we met, in 2010 (a cream saree with peach pink like border and blouse). Though I never knew my collection would grow as I've bought every piece that stole my heart, I do not doubt this craze will require me a new wardrobe soon, dedicated for my beautiful six yards.
There are apparently more than 80 recorded ways to wear a sari. Fashion designer Shaina NC declared,"I can drape a sari in 54 different styles". Due to the need to constantly drape sarees for functions after marriage, I have mastered one, which of course needs tweaking by the husband to make it perfect every time to date!

Although the love for sarees I have is a little overboard, I'm not much of a fan of the common sarees in stores and prefer looking for rare simple ones, that are in fact elegant and gets you all creative with ways to match them with outstanding blouses. Plain cotton sarees for example, will look gorgeous when matched with brocade blouses (found at indian textile shops). Also, it is always best to go with contrast a blouse instead of the same color as your saree. Or pick materials separately as the color of your saree border. Alternatively, there a brilliant option of pairing sarees with lace blouses.

This simple yet absolutely elegant trends, which I believe were more popular back in the days, are surely making a comeback. Watched a recent Tamil movie (the movie was a waste of time but Trisha was stunning) and saw the actress carrying off simple sarees, plain or printed without failing to keep audience both male and female glued on her. The guys may be drooling at her while the girls (including me) would have saved all her looks to try them out in their own way.
In the 1998 popular Hindi movie starring SRK and Kajol, plain and lace sarees made the ever gorgeous actress look even more of a star. I might have watched the movie over 100 times and would still today be amazed by her sarees as if watching the movie for the first time.
In my quest to look for the similar style, I was lucky enough to come across Devinaaz Boutique. She is also active on Instagram driving me crazy with her lovely collection. She also had lovely kutch blouse combos which are rare to find. So ladies look no more, check her collection out on Facebook or Instagram and made heads turn when your're out. Im currently eagerly waiting for my plain saree and lace blouse to arrive!

The right blouse can do wonders for any saree. Of late, there's been a plethora of innovations when it comes to blouse designs. They not only accentuate the saree you're wearing, but also add that additional zing! Tassels hanging down the length of your back, or cuts that bear a vague resemblance to the Havelis of Rajasthan, there are literally infinite ways to tweak your blouse. Some lovely trend setting ideas are taking the internet by storm on social network sites. One of such page that caught my attention is Magenta Collections. The page also offers lovely patches to electrify your blouse.
When it comes to wedding sarees, I have the opinion for it to be simple, not too much bling but does not take the bride glow off. This thought, is shared by a lovely friend (a senior from college), now a popular male make up artist, KS Balasingam (MUA) - Sofistiq Bridal or Sofistiq Bridal.
"My view on wedding saree - They should be simple, without any stones and purest quality Kanjipuram. With this, a bride can accessorize themselves with beautiful bridal jewelry and look outstanding. The wedding saree can be reused again for any other important occasions in the family" - KS Balasingam

Future bride can also drop by their physical store in Bangsar, Jalan Telawi 4, Unit 12A. At the same time check out the Saree Blouse Shop to find out how you could accessorize your blouses or take home a Potli Bangle Bag to carry along when draped in a gorgeous six yards!
And because he knows best, (I've for the first time asked for a saree to be picked for me) I got him to bring home a red Kanjipuram saree for me from India during his recent trip. My very first red Kanjipuram saree, a bridal like one.
